Goodbye to the Northside

Well, it’s once again time for the yearly uprooting of yours truly (perhaps next year will see a break from this annual phenomenon). I’m moving from North Minneapolis to South… with a couple friends from college (well, one from high school and college, who has known me all the way back to the glory days of gingham, chaps, and huge hair that came along with a wonderful thing we like to call show choir). Let’s talk for a minute about transition.

So I have the idea in my head that transition is not something I’m good at. However, let’s take a look at my life lately. Moving to France for a semester was actually really fabulous. Culture shock, lack of familiar faces, new everything, and I loved it. Moving to Minneapolis after college = huge blessing! God has given me wonderful friends here, surrounded me with the community I prayed for, and taught me so much this year. Summers with YouthWorks were difficult transitions, but most likely because YouthWorks is just difficult! Fabulous, rewarding, stretching, growing times, but CHALLENGING, in double caps!

Let’s also look at the things I enjoy: traveling, cultures, languages… if I’m not good at transitions now, I had better get that way quick =). I will miss the wonderful ladies of 2902 Bryant who I am so thankful for. And I’ll miss Tim, Clayton, Sasha, Justin, Aaron, and Sianna downstairs. And the kids across the street and down the block. But God will continue to work in this place, and give others a passion for this neighborhood, and put people in the lives of these kids who believe in them. And I also believe God will show me the needs of my new neighborhood, open doors for new relationships to be formed, and I’m excited for that! So, I think you all know how to get in touch with me if you need my new address… and hopefully you’ll know it soon enough anyway b/c I’m excited to start having people over there!

If you enjoy helping people move, mark your calendars for this Saturday the 29th (morning, maybe early afternoon… I have to be at work at 5), and call me to let me know! See you on the south side!

(Well, North first if you’re helping me move, the furniture has to come out before it can go in =))
